Green Initiatives - Snack Responsibly!
Napa Valley Vending recognizes that our health is directly affected by the welfare of the planet. That’s why we’re doing everthing we can to reduce our impact on the environment, from our warehouse to your break room.
Energy Savings -
Using an occupancy sensor (Vending Miser) we’re able to reduce the energy each soda machine uses by 46%. The sensor powers down the machine when the room is not being used, resulting in an annual savings of 1700Kwh per machine.
Reducing Fuel Consumption -
We will be replacing our gas guzzling delivery trucks with fuel efficient diesel vans that will run on a minimum of 20% Biodiesel -with an ultimate goal of running on B100 (created from waste vegetable oil) by Summer 2009.
Becoming Carbon Neutral -
Napa Valley Vending has signed up for ClimateSmart™ - PG&E’s voluntary program that invests in projects that offset the greenhouse gasses produced as a result of our energy consumption.
We also purchase renewable energy credits (REC’s) from Native Energy to offset the carbon emmissions created by our delivery trucks. These REC’s help to finance construction of new sources of clean and renewable electricity.
We are going a step further and donating money to American Forests to offset the greenhouse gasses created from the energy being conusmed by all of our vending machines. In essence we are offsetting a small portion of each one of our customers’ energy use. American Forests plants trees on our behalf to absorb the equivalent amount of carbon generated by the operation each of our vending machines.
Reducing Waste -
Computerized inventory management will reduce the amount of our overstock and expired products, while handheld computers will significantly reduce the amount of paper we use (projected completion date September 2008). Of course we have a strong commitment to recycling and all of the paper we use in our office is 100% post consumer waste recycled content.
Healthy/Organic Options -
We strive to offer great tasting healthy and/or organic options in addition to the delicious snacks you expect to find in your vending machines.
